Install the Dynamic Mail Content extension

After you have downloaded the dynamic content extension and registered for content service, installing the extension in your mail client is easy:

Mozilla Thunderbird

The following instructions are for MS Windows XP, but installation is similar for other operating systems; consult your user documentation for details:

  1. From the Thunderbird menu bar, select Tools|Add-ons.
  2. If you already have an earlier version of the dynamic content extension installed, press the Uninstall button next to the extension name and confirm that you wish to uninstall the extension.
  3. Press the Install… button.
  4. Navigate to the folder into which you downloaded the extension and select the extension. Press Open.
  5. Press the Install Now button, then restart Thunderbird, as required.
  6. From the Thunderbird menu bar, select Tools|Account Settings….
  7. Scroll down, if necessary, until you come to the account for which you registered in the previous step; this is probably your main account and select it.
  8. Under Dynamic Mail Content Account Settings, enter the password you were given during registration.
  9. Select the check box if you wish to make dynamic content your default content mode. You will be able to override the default prior to sending mail.
  10. Select SMTP and Dynamic Mail Content Servers near the bottom of the Account Settings page, scrolling down, if necessary.
  11. Under Dynamic Mail Content Server Settings, enter the content server name or IP address and port number you were provided with during registration.
  12. Press the OK button.

Microsoft Outlook

The following instructions are for Microsoft Windows XP, but installation is similar for Windows Vista and Windows 7:

  1. If you already have an earlier version of the Dynamic Content add-in installed, remove it from the Control Panel as explained in the FAQ.
  2. After downloading the add-in executable file, run it and follow the on-screen directions.
  3. Restart Outlook and select the File tab.
  4. Press the Dynamic Content Settings button and select your e-mail address from the dropdown menu.
  5. Enter the password, content server name and port you were given during registration.
  6. Select the check box labeled Send mail using dynamic contentif you wish to make dynamic content your default content mode and, optionally, the Encrypt dynamic content box if you wish your dynamic content to be encrypted prior to transmission. You will be able to override the defaults prior to sending mail.
  7. Press the OK button.

You are now ready to send and read dynamic content e-mail. When sending dynamic content mail, please note that your recipients may not be using a mail client enabled for this technology. In this case, instead of your message, they will see the following:
