Welcome to OpenComments™: |
Thank you for installing the OpenComments extension for Google Chrome. You have just become empowered in a way that is totally unprecedented.
In the past, if you had anything to say about a business or a Web site, you probably would have searched for a chat room or forum and provided your input through that medium. In effect, you are "preaching to the choir"; most visitors to the Web site you're commenting on don't even know about the forum where you posted your remarks.
With the OpenComments extension, whenever you navigate to any page in Web site for which an OpenComment had been posted, you are notified that comments are available for the site. In terms of exposure, you are put on an equal footing with the business: their customers and users see not only what the business wants them to see, but also what others who don't have a vested interest in the business have to say.
When you navigate to a site for which there are comments, the Comments Indicator icon will turn red (see below).
Selecting the icon will take you to the last comment for the site. You may reply to the comment or post a new topic:
If you decide to post a new topic, you'll see a page like the following:
Note that the site domain name and the page title have been inserted into the Subject: line and the page URL is added to the message area. You may change the page title in the subject line as we do below, but don't change the site domain name or others may not see your comment.
After you create your message, press the Post message button at the bottom of the page to post your comment:
Now return to the Facebook home page and press the Comments Indicator icon. You'll see something like the following:
See how easy it is to use the extension? Try it out now on a Web site of your choice and let your voice be heard around the world with OpenComments.
